Wilmington, Ohio - For the second straight evening the Tigers knocked off a higher ranked team as they defeated host Wilmington 88-70 to win the sectional and advance to the national semifinals.

DePauw (25-3) takes on 27-3 St. Lawrence (N.Y.) in one of two semifinal games on Friday, March 15, at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology in Terre Haute at a time to be determined on Monday. Marymount, Va. (24-6) and Wisconsin-Stevens Point (28-3) tangle in the other semifinal contest.

The Tigers, ranked eighth by USA Today/ESPN/WBCA and 13th in the D3hoops.com, shot over 50 percent for the second consecutive evening and held the Lady Quakers (28-2), ranked second in USA Today/ESPN/WBCA and third by D3hoops.com, to just 34 percent from the floor.

DePauw again jumped out to a strong start as they held an 8-3 lead just 1:39 into the game. The Tigers led by as many as six at 13-7, but the Quakers rallied to take a 27-25 lead on MacKenzie Hammond's jumper with 5:15 left in the half.

Dana Ferguson's layup and sectional MVP Sarah MacKay's three-pointer put the Tigers ahead to stay at 30-27. DePauw led 36-34 at the break.

A basket and three-pointer by Katie Imborek to open the second half pushed the Tigers' lead to 41-34 before Wilmington closed the gap to two on three occasions. DePauw increased the lead to eight before Wilmington trimmed it back to 63-59 on Tara Rausch's two free throws with 5:30 remaining.

DePauw put the game away over the next three minutes by scoring 13 straight points to make it 76-59 with 2:25 left. During the stretch the Tigers nailed both field goal attempts and hit nine of 10 free throws, while Wilmington missed seven field goal tries two free throws and turned the ball over twice.

In all, the Tigers connected on 19 of 24 charity tosses over the final 3:30 of the contest.

MacKay paced the Tigers with 21, while Imborek added a career-high 20. Dana Ferguson added 15 with all-sectional selection Amy Argetsinger and Colleen Powers each scoring 10. MacKay also grabbed five rebounds and dished out five assists with no turnovers.

Tara Rausch scored 26 and grabbed 11 boards to pace the Lady Quakers. Brittney Morris added 14 and Megan Woodruff scored 13 and dished out eight assists.
