Terre Haute, Ind. - A season that began with the Tigers unranked and without their top two scorers from the previous year ended happily at the Hulbert Arena on the Rose-Hulman campus as DePauw defeated Marymount, 65-58, to win the third-place game at the NCAA Division III Championship.

For the second straight night the Tigers fell behind early as Marymount opened with a 9-2 lead in the first 1:31. Sarah MacKay's layup with 18:20 left in the half started a 15-2 run over the next six minutes that lifted DePauw to a 17-11 lead. Lindsey Rush and Tria Yoder each finished the run with three-pointers.

DePauw led 26-22 with just over six minutes to play before scoring the next nine points over a two-minute stretch to take its biggest lead of the half at 35-22. Rush capped the run with her second three-pointer of the half. The Tigers led 39-31 at the break.

Marymount quickly cut the gap to two as Candice Brown, Katie Jarvis and Jodie Knotts each scored in the opening three minutes of the second half.

Midway through the half, the Tigers still held a 49-45 advantage before scoring eight straight. Dana Ferguson scored six of her eight points during the stretch. The Saints got no closer than seven the rest of the way.

"I am really proud of these women," DePauw coach Kris Huffman said of her seniors. "It was nice to get them all in at the end."

"Coach said we had 15 minutes to feel sorry for ourselves," Rush said of Friday's semifinal loss to St. Lawrence. "We came out and played extremely hard."

Rush led the Tigers with 12 followed by Katie Imborek and MacKay with 10 apiece. Imborek grabbed seven rebounds and dished out four assists.

Jarvis and Brown each scored 12 for the Saints, while Knotts and Gen Schmitt added 11 apiece. Brown grabbed 10 boards for the Saints.

The Tigers finished the season with a 26-4 record and the seniors closed their careers with a school-record equaling 87 wins against just 20 losses. Marymount closed the season with a 24-8 mark. More notes to be posted later.
