Atlanta, Ga. - The Tigers stretched their lead in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference to 2 1/2 games over Trinity with a 73-60 victory at Oglethorpe. The win was DePauw's 17th straight which equals a school record set by the 1998-99 team.
DePauw improved to 18-2 overall and 13-0 in the SCAC, while Oglethorpe dropped to 6-13 and 2-11.
The Tigers jumped out to an early 18-8 lead after an 8-0 run. That lead reached as many as 12 points at 25-13 before the Stormy Petrels closed the half with an 18-4 stretch to take a 31-29 lead.
With the score tied at 35-35, the Tigers scored 14 straight points to take a 49-35 lead. Oglethorpe closed to within nine before the Tigers scored seven straight to push the margin back to 16 to put the game away.
Colleen Powers and Sarah MacKay each scored 12 and Tria Yoder added 11 in the win. Jill Schneider led the way with seven rebounds, while MacKay recorded six steals and Yoder added four.
Heather Francouer paced Oglethorpe with 20 points followed by Nichole Gilleland with 14 and Julie Colantoni with 11.
DePauw hosts Southwestern on Friday, February 8, at 6 p.m.
