Terre Haute, Ind. - DePauw, ranked 10th in the latest USA Today/ESPN/WBCA poll and 11th by D3hoops.com, wrapped up the outright Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference title with a 65-53 win at Rose-Hulman. The victory, the Tigers 20th straight, extended their school record for consecutive wins and tied the SCAC mark set by Hendrix in 1996-97.
The Tigers (21-2, 16-0 SCAC) and Engineers (7-16, 6-10) battled through a tight first half that included six ties and nine lead changes before DePauw took the lead for good with a 9-0 run that gave it a 27-20 advantage. DePauw led 36-28 at the break.
DePauw then started to pull away in the early stages of the second half with a 14-4 run that made it 52-34 with 12:32 remaining. The lead reached as many as 21 in the late stages before the Engineers scored the game's final nine points.
Amy Argetsinger paced DePauw with 12 points, while SCAC Player of the Week Colleen Powers came off the bench to score 10 for her sixth straight double-figure game.
Christina Forsyth scored a career-high 29 in the loss. The Tigers held a 46-26 advantage on the boards as Jill Schneider hauled down eight and Powers added six. Forsyth grabbed eight rebounds for the Engineers.
DePauw, ranked first in the South Region, concludes the regular season on Friday, February 22, at Centre and on Saturday, February 23, at Sewanee.
