Greencastle, Ind. - The Tigers (20-2, 15-0 SCAC) captured at least a share of their fourth Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference championship in as many years since joining the conference four years ago and earned the nation's first spot in the NCAA Division III Championship with a 79-66 win over visiting Trinity (14-7, 11-3).

DePauw has now won outright or shared six straight conference titles including two in the former Indiana Collegiate Athletic Conference.

The win extended DePauw's school-record win streak to 19 games (second longest current streak in Division III) and was their 20th of the year. The Tigers have now won at least 20 games in five of the last six seasons.

Trinity led most of the first half and built as much as an eight-point lead at 27-19 after a 9-0 run over a stretch of three minutes. DePauw trailed 36-31 at the break.

The teams opened the second half by exchanging baskets before DePauw scored nine straight to take a 42-38 lead with 16:17 left. Senior Sarah MacKay scored five of her 17 second-half points in the string.

Senior Lindsey Rush buried back-to-back three-pointers midway through the second half to cap off a 14-4 run that lifted DePauw to a 58-46 advantage.

Trinity outscored the hosts 10-2 over the next three minutes with Megan Selmon and Tara Rhode each scoring four during the run to close the DePauw lead to 60-56 with 7:30 remaining.

Sophomore Colleen Powers equaled her career high with 16 points in the Tigers' 79-66 win over Trinity.

DePauw then began to pull away as Jill Schneider hit two free throws, MacKay buried back-to-back jumpers, Colleen Powers hit four straight free throws and Schneider added a charity toss to make it 71-58 with just 2:47 left.

The host Tigers shot 55 percent from the floor for the game including 70 percent in the second half.

MacKay led all scorers with 19 points followed by Powers with 16, Schneider with 11 and Rush with 10. Amy Argetsinger totaled seven rebounds in the victory.

Selmon led five Trinity double-digit scorers with 16 points and grabbed a game-high 13 rebounds. Kim Sayles and Amy Howe each scored 11, while Melissa Carl and Rhode each added 10. Christie Gladchuk dished out eight assists in the loss.

The Tigers can earn the outright SCAC title on Thursday when they travel to Terre Haute to face Rose-Hulman at 6 p.m. A DePauw victory would also equal the longest win streak in SCAC history held by Hendrix during the 1996-97 season when they won 20 straight.
