Heather Wiles scored a career-high 14 and was one of four double-figure scorers in the Tigers' 25-point win over Oglethorpe.
Greencastle, Ind. - DePauw (11-2, 6-0) hit 18 of 22 second-half free throws and pulled away from visiting Oglethorpe (4-7, 0-5 SCAC) to gain an 81-56 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference win. The win was the Tigers' 10th straight and kept them in a first-place tie with Trinity in the SCAC standings.
The Stormy Petrels led briefly in the opening three minutes, but the Tigers gradually built the lead to double digits at 33-23 and again at 36-26 at halftime.
After Oglethorpe cut the margin to seven at 36-29, the Tigers put together a 14-3 run to take a 50-32 advantage with 13:40 left. Dana Ferguson scored five and Amy Argetsinger four during the stretch.
The Tigers still held a 63-41 lead with just over seven minutes remaining, but the Stormy Petrels scored 10 of the game's next 11 points to close the gap to 64-51 with 3:54 left. An 8-1 DePauw run over in just over one minute's time moved the lead back to 20 at 72-52 and put the game away.
Kim Weigle led the Tigers with a season-high 16 points, while Ferguson and Heather Wiles came off the bench to score career highs of 15 and 14 points, respectively. Sarah MacKay added 14 in the win. Weigle also grabbed a career and game-high eight rebounds.
Heather Francouer, the SCAC's leading scorer at over 24 points per game, was held to 19 points, while Nichole Gilleland added 12 and Julie Colantoni scored 11.Francouer grabbed a team-high seven rebounds.
The Tigers travel to Southwestern where they will face the Pirates in an SCAC game on Friday, January 11 at 6 p.m. CST.
