MEMPHIS, Tenn. - So many things went wrong for the DePauw women's basketball team in their Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference game at Rhodes College, thanks in part to a hungry Lynx team, yet the Tigers battled back from a 21-point deficit in the final six minutes and a 13-point gap in the last two minutes only to lose 72-68.

The loss snapped the Tigers' eight-game win streak and dropped them into a first-place tie in the SCAC standings. DePauw fell to 13-4 overall and 8-2 in the SCAC, while Rhodes improved to 11-6 and 6-4.

DePauw, ranked in the top 15 in three different Division III polls, trailed 63-42 after Hannah Miller's bucket with 8:21 remaining, but went on an 8-0 run over a two-minute span to cut the margin to 63-50 with just over four minutes to play.

The Lynx pushed the margin back to 13 at 67-54 on Miller's basket with 1:40 left. Lindsey Rush and Jessie Hunt exchanged free throws before the Tigers scored the next eight on a three-pointer and basket from Katie Imborek and a three from Tria Yoder to cut the margin to 69-64 with 21.3 seconds left.

Kerry Wingo hit one of two free throws with 19 seconds left and Dana Ferguson connected on a pair of free throws with 7.7 seconds remaining to cut the gap to 70-66. Hunt, however, hit two charity tosses with 6.3 seconds left put the game away. Sarah MacKay's shot at the buzzer made the final 72-68.

DePauw fell behind early by an 11-3 count before going on a 14-1 run to take a 17-12 lead at the midway point of the half. The Tigers still held a 19-16 advantage before the Lynx put together a 22-2 run over a 5:34 stretch to go ahead by 17 at 38-21. Rhodes shot 52 percent in the first half in building a 38-24 lead.

Rush led the Tigers with 20 points. Wingo paced Rhodes with 20 followed by Hunt with 16 and Miller and Sara Miles with 14 apiece. The Lynx shot 53 percent for the game compared to the Tigers' 39 percent.

DePauw is at Hendrix on Sunday for a 3 p.m. CST game. The Tigers and Warriors share the top spot in the SCAC with Sewanee one-half game behind heading into a Saturday game with Centre.
