GREENCASTLE, IND.- DePauw junior guard Sarah MacKay scored 13 points, grabbed a career-high seven rebounds and recorded a career-best five steals to lead DePauw to a 65-53 win over Kalamazoo College in the DePauw Invitational championship game. The Tigers improved to 5-2, while the Hornets fell to 4-1.

MacKay was named the tournament most valuable player. Sophomore forward Meredith Miles was named to the all-tournament team after scoring 12 in the title game. Freshman forward Colleen Powers added a career-high 11 in the win.

The Tigers closed the first half with a 9-0 run over the final 5:23 to take a 24-13 lead into the break. They grabbed their biggest lead of the contest at 37-18 with 16:35 remaining in the game, but the Hornets battled back to within eight at 51-43 with 6:40 left. DePauw then scored eight straight to push the lead to 16.

Kalamazoo shot 57 percent from the floor in the second half after a 20 percent performance in the opening 20 minutes, but the Tigers shot 48 percent over the second half and hit 14 of 15 from the free throw. MaryJane Valade paced Kalamazoo with 19 points, while Alissa Johnston added 12.

Jessica Viertlboeck scored 30 points and grabbed seven rebounds, while Katy Sturtz posted her second straight double-double with 17 points and 11 boards to lead Ohio Wesleyan to an 81-52 win over Hanover in the consolation game.

The Battling Bishops used a 9-0 run over the opening 2:36 of the second half to expand a 44-28 halftime lead to 53-28. Ohio Wesleyan outrebounded Hanover 51-38 and  held the Panthers to just 32 percent shooting in the win. Tai Duncan led Hanover with 10 points. Ohio Wesleyan improved to 5-2, while Hanover slipped to 5-4.
