Rex Call is in his 27th year at DePauw University. In addition to serving as director of sports medicine, he holds with rank of Associate Professor and teaches in the Kinesiology Department. Call is directly responsible for the care of the football and men's lacrosse teams. 

A 1979 graduate of Ball State University, Call went on to earn his Master of Science degree  in Physical Education with Specialization in Athletic Training from the University of Arizona in 1980.  He has been certified by the Board of Certification since 1980 and is licensed as an athletic trainer in the state of Indiana. 

Call is currently a member of the National Athletic Trainers’ Association, Great Lakes Athletic Trainers’ Association and the Indiana Athletic Trainers’ Association. He is a preceptor for the Indiana State University Athletic Training Education Program and provides clinical education and supervision for several Indiana State athletic training students assigned to him each year. He is certified by the American Red Cross as a professional rescuer for First Aid, CPR and AED.

Some of his most recent continuing education has included the Sportsmetric Certification Course and the Graston Technique M-1 Course.  In 2002, he received the College/University Athletic Trainer of the Year Award by the Indiana Athletic Trainers’ Association.  

In addition to his years at DePauw, Call was an assistant athletic trainer and clinical instructor for three years at the University of Pittsburgh and served one year as its head athletic trainer. In all four years at the University of Pittsburgh, Call worked with the football program. He also worked one season with Pitt’s baseball team.

Following his stint at Pitt, Call served two years as an athletic trainer for The Physical Therapy Group in Greensburg, Pa., and also worked with the Buffalo Bills athletic training staff at the team’s 1982 and 1983 pre-season training camps held in Fredonia, N.Y.   

In the Greencastle community, Call has been a past member of Main Street Greencastle and has served on its board. He has also been a past member of the Heritage Preservation Society and served on the initial Heritage Wall Committee which worked toward the establishment of a “Heritage Wall” for downtown Greencastle.

Call and his wife, Carol, reside in the Greencastle area and have three married children and five grandchildren.
