Joined the DePauw Staff as the athletics department’s first head strength and conditioning coach and director of the Welch Fitness Center in June 2024.
 
Career Highlights:
  • Served as director of strength and conditioning and sports science at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College (MGCCC) from 2022-24.
  • Developed and implemented MGCCC’s first strength and conditioning program, with training centered around speed, agility and conditioning, for ten teams including football and basketball.
  • Utilized velocity-based training (VBT) technology to enhance athlete training programs.
  • Contributed to the success of the women’s basketball team, assisting them in winning the MAC Conference and becoming 2024 champions of Region 23, leading to their qualification for the NJCAA Division I tournament as a number 22 seed.
  • Helped the men’s basketball team earn an impressive second-place placement in the 2024 NJCAA Region 23 Men’s Basketball Championship.  
  • Facilitated in-season Football training program that resulted in 2 consecutive MACCC South Divisional Championships.
  • Contributed to the success of the MGCCC's men's golf team earning its second NJCAA Men's Golf Championship in 2024.
  • For two seasons (2022, 2023) Howard was a seasonal player performance coach with the United States Football League (USFL) (FOX), where he conducted player testing using Sparta Science Force plate and Nord Board technology.
  • While with the USFL he also facilitated workouts, warmups, and flush lifts with players, resulting in the USFL approaching double digits of players signing with the NFL.
  • Worked with Cowboys notable players Bandron Aubrey and KaVontae Turpin
  • From 2010-22, Howard trained private small groups of high school athletes with LH Fitness Solutions as a sports performance coach and personal fitness trainer (CSCS).
  • Earned a bachelor’s degree in communications in 2007 from DePauw University and later earned a masters of the arts: urban ministry from Trinity International University in 2012. In 2017, Howard obtained a masters of science: exercise science degree with a concentration in sports performance from Northeastern Illinois University.
