Kara Campbell is entering her tenth academic year at DePauw and her fourth year as Assistant Athletics Director for Sports Medicine and Head Athletic Trainer.   Before coming to DePauw, Campbell served as the Head Athletic Trainer at Huntingdon College (Montgomery, Ala.) for a year.

Campbell will oversee the volleyball, women’s basketball and softball programs.

At Huntingdon, Campbell was both the head athletic trainer and an adjunct professor in the sport sciences and human performance department. In her duties she was responsible for all aspects of athletic training and medical care for over 500 student-athletes; including injury evaluation, treatment, rehabilitation and preventative care.

Prior to arriving at Huntingdon, Campbell was a graduate assistant athletic trainer at Troy University (Troy, Ala.). While there, she was in charge of athletic training duties for the cross country, track and field, volleyball and tennis squads.

Campbell has also expanded her knowledge of the athletic training field by working as an outreach athletic trainer where she worked with football, basketball, soccer, baseball and softball. She also earned the opportunity to work as a certified athletic trainer at ESPN's Wide World of Sports at Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida.

A 2006 graduate of Franklin College (Ind.), Campbell went on to earn her master’s degree in sport and fitness management and administration from Troy University in 2009.

Campbell is a board certified athletic trainer (LAT, ATC) by both the National Athletic Trainers Association (NATA) and the Indiana state licensing board. She is an American Red Cross CPR/AED cardholder and is designated instructor for the organization. Additionally, Campbell is a member of the NATA and the Indiana Athletic Trainers Association.
