Dr. David Harsha is the medical director for Depauw Health and head team physician for Depauw University. Dr. Harsha is board certified in both Family Medicine and Sports Medicine. He is a member of several national organizations including the American Academy of Family Physicians, the American Medical Society for Sports Medicine, the American College of Sports Medicine and the American Institute for Ultrasound in Medicine. He serves on the American Medical Society for Sports Medicine Practice and Policy Committee. He completed medical school at the University Of Oklahoma. He completed a Family Medicine Residency and Primary Care Sports Medicine Fellowship at Indiana University. 

Dr. Harsha is a consulting team physician for USA Diving and served as their team physician for the 2016 Rio Olympics and 2016 World Cup. Dr. Harsha previously served as team physician for the Indiana Fever Women’s Basketball team (WNBA), the Indiana Ice Hockey team (USHL), Pike and University High Schools. His experience includes covering the 2012 USA Diving Olympic Trials, multiple FINA World Swimming and Diving Championships in China, Russia, and Spain from 2011-2015 and the 2007 Hula Bowl in Honolulu. Prior to Depauw, he served as the medical director for St. Vincent Sports Performance in Indianapolis. While at St. Vincent, he started a Primary Care Sports Medicine Fellowship and served as its initial program director. Additionally, he lead the St. Vincent Family Medicine residency education program as program director from 2005-2010.

Dr. Harsha is the proud father of two DePauw alumni and one current DePauw student. He and his wife, Dr. Cathy Harsha (Ob/Gyn), live in Danville. He enjoys spending time with his family, international travel and playing recreational ice hockey.

Dr. Harsha strives to provide a whole person approach for DePauw’s student athletes. While doing so, he also enjoys incorporating technology including the use of Musculoskeletal Ultrasound in the evaluation and management of sports injuries. Dr. Harsha enjoys working with our multi-disciplinary health care team to keep DePauw’s student athletes safely on the field while optimizing their sports performance and reducing risk of injury.
