Bill Wagner joined the DePauw staff as sports information director in December 1986 and is responsible for external communications and publicity for all 23 of the University's intercollegiate athletic programs.

  • Oversees the athletics social media platforms and the content on DePauwTigers.com.  In July 2019, he was promoted to Assistant Athletics Director for Athletics Communications.
  • Has served as a host media coordinator for over 30 NCAA events including the 2001 Division III Men's Tennis Championships and the 2003 and 2010 Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships.
  • A member of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), Wagner served on the national organization's board of directors from 2005-08 and, in 2008, became the first president of DIII-SIDA. He served in that capacity until 2011.
  • Since 2002, Wagner has worked as a district coordinator for the CoSIDA Academic All-America® program.
  • In 2014, Wagner was inducted into the CoSIDA Hall of Fame.
  • Received many publications awards through CoSIDA including a "Best in the Nation" award for the 1996 and 1997 football media guides and for the cover of the 1988 football media guide. The 2002 and 1994 guides earned second-place honors. In all, eight of the DePauw football guides were ranked among the top five in the nation as well as three men's basketball guides.
  • Served as a venue media director at the Tenth Pan American Games in Indianapolis in 1987 and assisted with media relations at the 2010 NCAA Division I Men's Basketball Final Four in Indianapolis and the 1988 NCAA Division I Men's Basketball Midwest Regional at the Pontiac Silverdome.
  • Worked in sales for the Cleveland Cavaliers professional basketball team during the summer of 1983.
  • Has been a member of the Football Writers Association of America, the United States Basketball Writers of America and the Collegiate Baseball Writers of America.
  • Tiffin, Ohio, native earned a Bachelor of Science in business administration with a major in marketing and an emphasis on advertising and marketing research from Miami University in 1985
  • Obtained a Master of Arts in sport management from The Ohio State University in 1986. He worked in the sports information offices at both schools.
  • He and his wife, Shelly, along with their children Nadia and John reside in Greencastle.
