Deb Zellers, a 1992 DePauw graduate, returned to her alma mater in 1994 at the head volleyball coach.

Coaching career

  • Along with assistant coach Sydney Stover was voted North Coast Athletic Conference Coaching Staff of the Year after leading the Tigers to the NCAC regular season title.
  • Has posted a 622-341 record in 30 seasons and is the program's winningest coach in both victories and winning percentage
  • Led 2019 team to the program's first North Coast Athletic Conference Tournament title
  • Team made four straight NCAA Division III postseason appearances (2016-19) and six in seven seasons
  • Her 1998 and 2000 squads also earned postseason berths with the 2000 team winning 32 matches
  • Teams have finished first or second in NCAC regular season seven out of 12 years 
  • Finished second in Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Tournament four times
  • Led DePauw to 1994 Indiana Collegiate Athletic Conference Tournament title
  • Coached softball for seven seasons with a 129-102-3 record and a .558 winning percentage
  • She led 1998 softball team to its first conference championship in school history and a school-record 21 wins against just nine losses
  • 1998 Tigers entered the Indiana Collegiate Athletic Conference tournament seeded third, but won all three games to capture the league title
  • Named the 1998 ICAC Softball Coach of the Year
  • Prior to returning to DePauw she was assistant volleyball coach for two seasons at Oberlin in addition to one season as assistant women's basketball coach and one as the head coach (1993-94)

As a DePauw Student

  • Majored in psychology and was a four-year volleyball starter and a two-year starter in basketball as well as a captain in each sport
  • Earned all-conference honors in volleyball in 1989 and 1991 and was an all-district selection in 1990
  • Volleyball team’s most valuable player in 1991 and the mental attitude award winner in 1990 and 1991
  • The Tigers earned a trip to the NCAA Division III Championship during her senior year (1991).
  • In basketball she twice won the mental attitude award and once was the most improved award winner
  • Earned all-Hoosier Conference for Women honors in basketball as a senior
