DePauw University

Gabby Smart joined the DePauw University softball coaching staff as an assistant coach in July of 2017 and was named associate head coach in July of 2023.

Career Highlights

• National Fastpitch Coaches Association Assistant Coach of the Year (July 2024)
• Part of the 2023 NCAC Staff of the Year after helping the Tigers to a 12-2 regular season record
• Since the spring of 2018 Smart has helped lead the Tigers to post a 215-107-1 record including 92-10 in NCAC games
• Team won NCAC titles in 2019, 2022, 2023, 2024 and 2025 and NCAC Tournament championships in 2018, 2019, 2021, 2022, 2024 and 2025
• Tigers finished in a tie for third at the 2021 NCAA Division III Finals and the staff was named the NFCA Central Region Staff of the Year
• Earned her CSCS in the summer of 2018

Academic and Athletic Highlights

• Earned a bachelor's degree in kinesiology at DePauw University 
• Four-year varsity letter winner with DePauw softball
  • Ranked eighth in individual career stolen bases (31) upon graduation
  • All-NCAC Honorable Mention (2014)
  • NCAC Player of the Week (March 2016)
  • All-NCAC First Team- Infield (2017)
  • NCAC Tournament MVP (2017)
