Erica Hanrahan came to DePauw during the summer of 2012 as just the third coach since the program returned to varsity status in 1996.

DePauw Coaching Career

  • In 12 seasons as head coach, has led the Tigers to a 329-184-1 overall record and a 148-20 North Coast Athletic Conference mark
  • 329 wins is the most by any coach in program history
  • Tigers made eight straight NCAA appearances (2014-22) and finished in a tie for third at the 2021 Division III Finals and a tie for fifth at the 2015 Division III Finals
  • Earned NCAC Coach of the Year in 2013, 2015 and 2016 and NCAC Staff of the Year in 2023
  • NCAC regular season champions (2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2019, 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024)
  • NCAC Tournament champions (2014, 2015, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2022, 2024)
  • The Tigers' 40 wins in 2021 matched the program record previously set in 2008 and 2010
  • DePauw's tournament run in 2015 included a 3-0 record in the regional and a 2-1 Super Regional series win over Moravian that featured two dramatic come-from-behind wins in elimination games
  • Hanrahan and her staff earned National Fastpitch Coaches Association Regional Coaching Staff of the Year honors in 2015 and 2021

Coaching Prior to DePauw

  • Prior to coming to DePauw was a member of the softball staff at Boston College where she assumed the position as first assistant within the program and was responsible for the development of the entire pitching staff, the outfielders and game-by-game scouting reports
  • At BC, she spearheaded the recruitment of the pitchers and assisted with the planning and implementation of practice, the organization and communication of recruiting and the fundraising efforts of the squad.
  • She helped the Eagles get off to their best start in 11 years (16-6), defeating conference foe Virginia Tech for the first time at home in eight seasons along the way en route to totaling 50 percent more wins than the previous season
  • Served as head varsity softball coach at Elmwood Park High School in Elmwood Park, Ill., where she directed her team to six regional championships, two sectional titles and two quarterfinal berths in the state tournament
  • Founded the Lady Tigers travel softball organization where her responsibilities as the president and coach of the association’s U18 squad included developing a board of trustees, recruiting, fundraising, scheduling games and practices and developing rapport with collegiate coaches to help showcase talent on the Lady Tigers teams

Collegiate Career

  • A 2000 graduate of St. Peter’s College in Jersey City, N.J., and earned her master’s degree in Education from her alma mater in 2001
  • Helped guide the school to its first softball conference championship and was team captain in 2000.
  • While studying for her master’s degree, Hanrahan was the graduate assistant coach for the softball team and helped the team amass the most wins in school history, 42, a MAAC championship and a berth to the NCAA regionals
