Michael Engle

Michael Engle, a 2011 DePauw graduate, returned to his alma mater as an assistant football coach and pass game coordinator in May 2020. Will serve as quarterbacks and receivers coach.

 

  • Came to DePauw from Florida Institute of Technology where he served three seasons as an assistant coach and special teams coordinator. 
  • During his time with the Panthers, three of the receivers he coached earned all-Gulf South Conference honors including an NCAA Division II all-region selection.
  • Prior to that, Engle was an assistant coach and offensive coordinator at West Virginia Wesleyan after a four-season stint at Bryant University in Rhode Island.
  • A 2011 DePauw graduate, Engle earned a bachelor's degree while majoring in political science and was a Lilly Endowment Scholar and Dean's List selection.
  • While a student-athlete at DePauw, Engle quarterbacked the Tigers to a 9-2 finish to equal the program's single-season win record.
  • DePauw won the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference championship and earned an NCAA Division III Championship appearance for the second straight season.
  • Engle earned three varsity letters and served as a captain during his senior season when he set DePauw single-season records for completions (282), passing yards (3,180), total offense yards (3,197), passing touchdowns (30).
  • He also tied the single-game record with six touchdown passes in a win over Rose-Hulman. Engle was a first team all-SCAC selection in 2010.
  • Following graduation, he started his coaching career as running backs coach at DePauw for the 2011 season.
