Mason Espinosa joined the DePauw staff in the spring of 2022

PRIOR TO DEPAUW
  • Served as the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at Wooster (Ohio) High School since June 2021 where the team advanced to the round of 16 at the Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA) playoffs
  • Team set school records for total passing yards (3,222), passing yards per game (277.6), completions (275), pass attempts (460) and passing touchdowns (24)
  • Joined the Denison University staff as wide receivers coach in August 2016 before moving to quarterbacks coach in August 2019 and interim co-offensive coordinator in March 2021
  • Helped the Big Red to back-to-back NCAC championships
  • Served as a graduate assistant coach at Defiance College (August 2014-December 2015) where he coached the quarterbacks and was an assistant academic coordinator
PROFESSIONAL PLAYING CAREER
  • Competed in Pittsburg Steelers Rookie Mini-Camp in May 2014
  • Has played in the Indoor Football League, National Arena League and Arena Football League since March 2016
  • Led Indoor Football League in passing yards and touchdowns while serving as team captain of the Billings Wolves and joining team mid-season
  • Led Columbus Lions to 2017 and 2018 NAL championship game appearances
  • In 2017 was a second-team all-league selection after leading league in completion percentage, quarterback rating and fewest interceptions
  • First team all-NAL in 2018 and led league in passing yards, completion percentage and quarterback rating while accounting for 77 touchdowns and just eight interceptions
  • Led 2019 Albany Empire to ArenaBowl XXXII title following a 12-2 record and he led the league in quarterback rating at 156.3
  • Was the NAL Most Valuable Player in 2021 after directing the Columbus Lions to a championship game appearance as team captain and leading the league in passing touchdowns, passing yards, completions, attempts and QB rating
COLLEGE CAREER
  • Graduated Cum Laude in May 2014 from Ohio Wesleyan University with a bachelor's degree in history
  • Started all 40 games at quarterback from the Battling Bishops where he finished with 17 different school or North Coast Athletic Conference records
  • Set NCAC career records for passing yards (11,072), total yards (10.869) and total plays (1,836) and the single-season mark for completions (319)
  • Finished ranked in the top 15 in NCAA Division III in passing yards
  • Selected as the 2012 NCAC Player of the Year after leading Ohio Wesleyan to its first conference title since 1989
  • Named Ohio Wesleyan's top male athlete in 2013 and was a National Football Foundation Scholar-Athlete
  • Earned MVP honors in the 2014 National Bowl Game and the FCS Senior Scout Bowl
  • 2014 All-American Bowl Offensive Award recipient
