Information for Sports Med Drug Testing

DRUG TESTING

Consistent with NCAA membership, DePauw University participates in drug testing for NCAA championship events.  DePauw University, as an individual entity, does not conduct additional drug testing.  Student-athletes should be aware that both performance-enhancing and "street" drugs are banned by the NCAA and could result in a loss of athletics eligibility.   Please seek the assistance of the DePauw Sports Medicine staff to determine the permissibility of use.

Ultimately, student-athletes are responsible for all substances that they ingest, inject, or place on the skin.  In addition, some legally prescribed substances may trigger a positive test at the time of drug testing.  Do not stop taking any medication, but rather work with the DePauw Sports Medicine staff to appropriately document the medication's use.  Because the appeal for a positive drug test can be small, we highly recommend that you obtain this documentation in advance.
