Adrian, Mich. - The DePauw Tigers men's soccer team defeat Adrian, 3-1 on the road Sunday afternoon.
Tigers held an offensive edge in the first half, outshooting Adrian 8-0 before cracking open the game in the 65th minute with an unassisted goal from Ante Basan. The Bulldogs tied it up 1-0 six minutes later.
With less than twenty minutes left in regulation, Tigers made eight substitutions to bring back their key starters that would inevitably win the game for DePauw.
Julian Bell tallied the second goal for DePauw in the 74th minute, recording an assist from Braden Murphey.
Following two yellow cards for the Bulldogs, Roman Girandola delivered an insurance goal for the Tigers with nearly three minutes left in the game. Joey Vehovsky assisted on the goal.
Five Tigers recorded a full ninety minute performance, Sam Ortner in goal, Harrison Engel, Logan Hartsell, Aidan Whitley, and Alek Habecker.
Basan, Bell, and Logan Pierce all tallied three shots, two on goal.
Ortner made one save in net for the Tigers, facing two shots on goal throughout the game.
Tigers edged the Bulldogs in corner kicks, going 6-1.
This win raises DePauw to 2-0, while Adrian falls to 0-2.
DePauw men's soccer will return to play on Wednesday, September 9th when the Tigers host Anderson at 7 p.m.
