Greencastle, Ind - DePauw men's soccer fell to Calvin 1-4 in a hard fought match up on Saturday afternoon.
The Knights wasted no time, scoring the first goal of the match at 1:25 off a cross net pass and a clean shot from the right inside corner of the goal area with only Julian Bell and Sam Ortner left to defend the goal.
Calvin doubled the lead in the 17th minute, shooting from the penalty arc, dribbling past two defenders, and delivering a clean shot to the bottom left corner of the net, outside Ortner's reach.
Harrison Engel recorded his first goal of the 2026 season off a corner, ninth career goal. Sami Ahmed took a shot outside the penalty area, Engel helped the ball regain speed. He caught the goalie off-guard, kicking the ball over his head and into the far right side of the net at 24:05. This was Ahmed's second career assist, first of the season.
Going into halftime, DePauw trailed Calvin 1-2.
The Knights scored two back-to-back insurance goals to lengthen the lead to 4-1 against the Tigers.
Calvin edged DePauw in goals 9-7, 7-3 on goal. Sam Ortner made three saves in goal for the Tigers, allowing four goals. DePauw drew twice the amount of corner kicks, 8-4, and less fouls, 15-20.
Alek Habecker, Braden Murphey, and Julian Bell were all awarded yellow cards throughout the game.
AJ Hockstok, Bell, and Engel all tallied shots on goal for the Tigers.
With the loss, DePauw moves to 3-1 overall, while Calvin improves to 2-1-1. The Tigers will return to action on Wednesday in Greencastle, when they host Rose-Hulman for a non-conference match up at 7:00 p.m.
