Danville, Ky. - DePauw field hockey claimed their first win in their 2026 season opener against Centre, 4-2.
Ella Harms claimed the first goal of the season for the Tigers at 8:26.
Sophomore Hannah Zaiser quickly followed up with the second goal of the night at 11:14 and first year Liza Flower tallied her first career goal at 14:03.
The Tigers ended the first quarter with a 3-0 lead against the Colonels.
Heading into the second, first year Gabriella Bourantas launched a pair of shots before Centre tallied two to cut the Tigers lead to 3-2 heading into halftime.
Fighting to maintain their lead, DePauw drew six penalty corners and tallied three shots in the third quarter.
In the final quarter, the Colonels recorded three shots and a penalty corner before Ellie Lochhead put the nightcap on the game with a goal at 58:35 to finish the game 4-2 in favor of the Tigers.
The Tigers outshot the Colonels 14-8, with DePauw claiming nine shots on goal. DePauw edged Centre 13-5 in corners, but went toe-to-toe with one apiece in yellow cards. DePauw also recorded a defensive save following a defensive penalty corner. Starters Lochhead and Harms tallied one each, while substitutes Zaiser and Flower followed suit tallying one each. Goalkeeper Tea Jerro tallied three saves across 60 minutes with the five shots faced.
With the win, DePauw moves to 1-0 overall, while Centre falls to 0-1. The Tigers will return to action for their first home and conference game of the season against Wittenberg on Tuesday, September 8 at 7:00 p.m.
