Tigers Sweep Saturday Matches

Greencastle, Ind. - DePauw, ranked 32nd in Division III, blanked Wittenberg, 7-0, and topped Ohio Northern by a 5-2 score to improve to 12-7 overall and 3-1 in the North Coast Athletic Conference.

Against Wittenberg, the number-one team of Finley Buelte and William Cramer defeated Christian Droz and Sam Garay by a 6-2 score, while the second tandem of Will Hutchinson and Paul Castleman blanked Benjamin Glassman and Daniel Patel, 6-0. Scott Anderson and Wils Warren won at third doubles by default.

In singles, Buelte was a 6-0, 6-1 victor over Droz at the top position with Anderson winning over Garay by a 6-1, 6-2 score at number two. Filippo Fassone topped Glassman 6-0, 6-0 at the third spot with Warren taking a 6-0, 6-1 victory over Patel at number four. Jaxcen Hummel and Ikkei Oguma won by default at fifth and sixth singles, respectively.

The Tigers won all three doubles matches against Ohio Northern with Cramer and Buelte taking a 6-2 win over Tyler Wood and Dylan Catanese at the first position. Hutchinson and Castleman topped Ethan Remy and Aiden Yeager by a 6-4 score at the second spot with Anderson and Warren winning over Kessler Hackenberger and Noah Ehret by a 6-1 score.

In singles, Buelte defeated Yeager by a 6-2, 3-6, 6-4 score at the first spot and Anderson coming back to defeat Wood 5-7, 6-3, 6-3 at number two.

Hutchinson also rallied for a 2-6, 6-1, 6-1 win over Hackenberger at fifth singles and Fassone winning over Noah Boyce 6-3, 6-2 at the sixth position.

DePauw returns to action on Saturday, April 11, with a 9 a.m. match at Ohio Wesleyan.
