Oberlin, Ohio - DePauw extended its win streak to 10 following a North Coast Athletic Conference doubleheader sweep at Oberlin by scores of 9-7 and 4-1. The Tigers improved to 23-8 overall and 8-2 in the NCAC, while the Yeomen dropped to 13-15-1 overall and 2-6 in the league.
Oberlin grabbed a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first of game one as the Yeomen drew five consecutive walks. DePauw gained the lead in the third as
Max Bond clubbed a three-run homer.
The Yeomen regained the lead at 4-3 in the bottom of the third as Kyle Baxt scored after an outfield error by the Tigers and Sam Labrecque scored on Robbie Lynn's single.
The score remained the same until the top of the seventh when
Grady Johnson hit a three-run homer to make it 6-4.
Oberlin's Brady Groves scored on a balk in the seventh before DePauw struck for three more in the eighth.
Bryson Dorsey drove in two with a single and Bond plated one with a base hit.
Niz Mezzanote reached on a fielder's choice in the bottom of the eighth which scored Labrecque and Patrick Leonard wrapped up the scoring with a sacrifice fly that scored Lynn.
Cuinn Morrow had three of DePauw's 10 hits with Bond and
Connor Osborne each adding two. Groves and Labrecque each had two of the Yeomen's seven hits.
Pearse Riendeau improved to 6-1 while
Charlie Hawk picked up his second save. Shane McKenna dropped to 1-1 with the loss.
In the nightcap, the teams were scoreless through three innings before Dorsey drove in Morrow and
Zach O'Connell in the fourth to give DePauw a 2-0 lead.
Aidan Howard scored on a throwing error in the fifth to push the lead to 3-0 before Oberlin's Patrick Leonard brought home Lynn with a sacrifice fly.
The Tigers' final run came on Morrow's sacrifice fly which scored Bond who led off the inning with a double.
Four different Tigers collected one hit each, while Daniel Krabill and Mezzanotte each had three of Oberlin's nine hits and Groves added two.
Jamison Lewis improved to 3-2 with the complete game win as he struck out six in nine innings. Jameson Bryant dropped to 2-2.
The Tigers travel to top-ranked Denison on Wednesday, April 22, for a Noon NCAC doubleheader.
