Greencastle, Ind. - Ten different Tigers scored touchdowns as DePauw rolled to a 68-7 North Coast Athletic Conference win over Oberlin on Nick Mourouzis Field. DePauw improved to 4-1 overall and 3-1 in the NCAC with the Senior Day and Old Gold Day victory, while the Yeomen dropped to 0-5 overall and 0-4 in conference play.
Carson Johnson got the scoring started on DePauw's first series with a 7-yard run, while
Frankie Ricciardi caught a 49-yard pass from
Jack Kazmierczak with 6:34 left in the first to make it 14-0.
The Tigers scored on the second play of the second quarter as left guard
Bennett Smith reached paydirt on a 2-yard run. A fumbled Oberlin punt snap on its next possession was recovered by DePauw's
AJ Jobe at the Yeomen 4 and he took it in for a score to make it 28-0 with 13:32 left in the half.
DePauw's
Nehemiah Dau forced Oberlin quarterback Massimo Vilet to fumble on Oberlin's second play of the next drive and Dau recovered at the Oberlin 22. Four plays later, Kazmierczak teamed with
Luke Dockery for a 6-yard touchdown pass. The point-after was off the mark and DePauw held a 34-0 advantage with 10:33 remaining in the half.
Kazmierczak's 5-yard strike to Carer Foran with 5:38 left in the half pushed the lead to 40-0 and
Scott Ballentine's 14-yard pass to
Jack Gordon with 1:18 left extended the lead to 47-0.
The Tigers opened the second half with a 12-play, 67-yard series that ended with Ballentine's 2-yard pass to offensive lineman
Patrick Briskey.Â
The Yeomen picked up a couple of first downs on their next possession and a 62-yard punt by Jackson Gartska put the ball back on DePauw's 25.
Peyton Cross ran down the left sideline on the first play from scrimmage for a 75-yard score to make it 61-0 with 3:56 remaining in the third.
Grant Rylander's 6-yard run with 12:24 left in the fourth wrapped up DePauw's scoring.
Oberlin's score came with 53 seconds left as Henry Behrens found Jacob Day in the end zone for a 16-yard score which capped an 11-play, 91-yard drive.
Cross rushed for a career-high 125 yards on seven carries, while Kazmierczak completed 13-of-13 passes for 146 yards with three touchdowns. Ballentine connected on 5-of-6 passes for 43 yards and two scores. In all, 13 different DePauw players caught passes led by Dockery's four grabs for 38 yards.
Vilet completed 6-of-21 passes for 31 yards, with Behrens going 6-for-8 for 76 and a touchdown. Ben Rosenblatt caught seven for 29 yards to lead the Yeomen.
Dau and
Carson Stringer each had three tackles, while
Bryce Kriech had two sacks with Dau and
Clark Simpson adding one each. Peyton Rough led Oberlin with 13 tackles and Cameron Burke followed with 10.
DePauw outgained Oberlin, 494-76, including 273-(-41) on the ground. DePauw also held a 23-10 edge in first downs.
The Tigers return to action on Saturday, Oct. 17, when they host Denison at 1 p.m.
