Romeoville, Ill. - The DePauw men's swimming and diving team fell to Lewis in a dual meet on Saturday, 97–163.
The Tigers opened the evening with a statement in the 200-yard medley relay, securing second and third place finishes. DePauw's "A" quartet of Brady Hinshaw, Tyler Farkas, Daniel Schwendinger, and James Anderson set the tone with a time of 1:37.14, while the "B" relay followed closely behind in 1:39.38 to give DPU its first points of the meet.
Distance freestyle continued to build momentum, as freshman Andrew Thompson battled to a strong second-place finish in the 1000 free (10:14.67), with senior Alexander Bridgmohan right behind in third (10:39.17). Thompson later added another runner-up performance in the 500 freestyle, touching in at 4:55.98.
The Tigers carried that surge directly into the sprint events, where Hinshaw placed second in the 100 backstroke (53.81) and Kai-Wen Minnich finished second in the 100 breaststroke (1:01.14). Minnich followed that effort with another second-place showing in the 200 breaststroke, clocking a 2:13.50.
DePauw continued to rack up points across the middle of the meet. Farkas placed second in the 200 freestyle (1:45.65) and later added a second-place finish in the 100 freestyle (48.19). Schwendinger contributed key points with third-place finishes in both the 100 butterfly (52.24) and the 50 freestyle relay lineup.
The Tigers closed the meet strong in the relays, finishing second in the 200 freestyle relay as the team of Hinshaw, Jeremy Stutzman, Anderson, and Farkas touched in at 1:27.12. DePauw also earned points in the 400 IM, highlighted by Aaron Graff's second-place finish (4:25.67).
Thompson and Minnich led the Tigers with two second-place finishes each.
The Tigers now shift their focus to a Senior Day dual meet against Franklin on Saturday, January 17. Senior Day festivities will begin at 12:45 p.m. ET inside Erdmann Natatorium.
