Winona, Minnesota - The Tigers came out with a vengeance against Simpson for game five of NCAA Regionals, coming up short 8-3.
Playing as the home team, the Tigers took to the field first.
Kelsey Schneider started in the circle. The Storm scored their first run off a sacrifice fly into center field, driving home the runner on third base. The Tigers tamed routine pop ups to finish the inning.Â
Libby Minobe reached first on a single to shortstop before advancing to third with a sacrifice bunt laid down by
Macey Cox. Delivering another grounder to Simpson's shortstop,
Katie Mathies hit a single to bring home
Libby Minobe - evening the score 1-1. Apply pressure to the Storm's bunt defense,
Riley Heim laid down a bunt to get on base. Both Mathies and Heim were caught on the bases, tallying the last two outs of the inning.Â
The Tigers tallied three up, three down in the top of the second.
Callie Rheinheimer reached first on a fielding error, before
Paige Brady grounded into a double play to smother the rally.
The Storm led off with a solid double to left field put a runner in scoring position. A sacrifice bunt moved the runner to third before a single through the right side sent them home, gaining a lead of 2-1 for Simpson.Â
Madi Lockridge knocked a grounder to third a outpaced an error to make it on to base. Two sacrifice bunts laid out by
Hanna Coffel and Minobe pushed Lockridge to third. Cox flew out to right field, leaving her teammate stranded on third.
At the top of the fourth, Simpson led 2-1 before tallying three runs to extend their lead. With a strong shift in energy in the box, Shaner launched a homer into the scoreboard. A solid double placed a runner in scoring position before
Izzy Deveau replaced Schneider in the circle for the Tigers. First batter Deveau faced hit a rocket over the right field fence, out of Minobe's reach despite stretching over the fence - driving in two more for the Storm.Â
Eager to fight back, the Tigers found in the box with
Ella Kuenster reaching first on a single before Rheinheimer homered into left field, driving home two runs for the Tigers. This was Rheinheimer's third home run of the season.Â
With the Storm leading 5-3, they continued their offensive battle, knocking a double, advancing on a passed ball, and scoring on a fly ball to center field.Â
Trailing 6-3, the Tigers struggled to find a hole in the Storm's defense. In the top of the sixth, a throw from Minobe ricocheted off Abigail Rouse's back into Coffel. She was swiftly escorted off the field for medical attention. Both teams remained scoreless in the sixth.Â
The Storm landed their final blow in the seventh with two runs, leading 8-3.Â
Ashlyn Steen led the Storm with two hits and three runs.Â
Kelsey Schneider dropped to 0-1 while Emma LaFave moved to 13-2.
Izzy Deveau recorded the only two strikeouts of the game.Â
The Tigers finished the 2025 season 25-15 overall and 12-2 in conference.
