Terre Haute, Ind. - DePauw scored three runs in the first and held the lead the rest of the way in a 4-2 win at Rose-Hulman. The Tigers moved to 8-17 with the win, while the Fightin' Engineers dropped to 11-12.
Max Bond led off the game with a double and moved to third on
Grady Johnson's grounder.
Carter Knoll's single brought home Bond before
Drew Straub singled Knoll to second.
Nolan Osterling and
Cooper Davis followed with RBI singles to make it 3-0.
The Tigers added another run in the third as Knoll singled and moved to second when
Nate Heflin was hit by a pitch. Davis then delivered a two-out single to make it 4-0.
Rose-Hulman's Joe Nevle singled with one out in the third and stole second before Peter Rogers doubled, scoring Nevle.
The Fightin' Engineers final run came in the sixth as Rogers was hit by a pitch and Tyler Otroszko walked. Rogers came home on Connor O'Connell's single.
Knoll and Davis each had two of DePauw's 10 hits, while Mark Serdinak, O'Connell and Nevle each had two of Rose-Hulman's seven hits.
Josh Heitert was credited with the win and improved to 1-1, while A Lewandowski dropped to 2-1.
Jake Thometz recorded his first save.
DePauw travels to Kenyon on Saturday, April 12, for a Noon North Coast Athletic Conference doubleheader.
