Ellen Gardner (Sr., Carmel, Ind./Guerin Catholic) has been selected North Coast Athletic Conference Women's Tennis Athlete of the Week for her performances in three DePauw wins last week.
At second singles, Gardner defeated Sidney Purks of Wittenberg by a 6-1, 6-2 score and topped Lily Hershey of Ohio Wesleyan 6-0, 6-2. She played first singles against Madelyn Santner of Hanover and won 6-0, 6-1.
In doubles play, Gardner teamed with
Kassie Green at the first spot for a 6-0 win over Ohio Wesleyan's Riley Brokaw and Frankie Nuss, while dropping a 6-4 match to Purks and Caroline Sprouple of Wittenberg. She played third doubles with
Katie Geon in the Hanover match and the duo won by a 6-0 score over Kiya White and Lauren Hale.
As a team, the Tigers were 3-0 for the week and are now 11-9 overall and 4-2 in the NCAC. DePauw takes a five-match win streak into Friday's NCAC Tournament quarterfinal match with Wooster. The Tigers and Fighting Scots play at 1:30 p.m. at Kenyon.
