Late Surge Sends DePauw to NCAC Win over Wooster

Greencastle, Ind. - A late 14-0 run lifted DePauw to a 76-70 North Coast Athletic Conference win over visiting Wooster. The Tigers improved to 13-12 overall and finished NCAC play at 9-7, while the Fighting Scots dropped to 19-6 overall and 11-5 in conference play.

Wooster held a 60-53 lead after Jaiden Cox-Holloway's jumper with 5:46 left. Caleb Washington countered with a layup and added two free throws before Kyle Lillwitz converted a three-point play to even the score at 60-60 with 4:16 remaining. Divine Adeyanju hit one of two free throws and Washington followed with a three before Reph Stevenson also converted a three-point play to give the Tigers a 67-60 lead with 2:32 remaining.

EJ Kapihe stopped the run with a layup and Ashton Price delivered a trey to close the Tigers' lead to 67-65 with 1:56 left.

Lillwitz buried a three 11 seconds later to push the lead back to five, but Cox-Holloway hit a jumper and a trey to even the count at 70-70 with 56 seconds left.

Sam Jacobs put DePauw ahead for good with a 3-pointer at the 37-second mark before Lillwitz turned a steal into a dunk which pushed the lead to five. Wooster was unable to convert on the offensive end and Lillwitz snagged the rebound, was fouled and hit one of two free throws to seal the win.

Wooster led by six in the first half before DePauw came back to take a seven-point lead on the way to a 30-25 halftime advantage.

DePauw extended the lead to as much as seven early in the second half before the Fighting Scots started to chip away and eventually regained the lead at 49-47. They later pushed the margin to seven with a 7-1 run before the Tigers started their comeback.

Lillwitz netted a career-high 26 on his senior day, while Stevenson followed with 13 and Jacobs added 11. Stevenson led the Tigers with seven rebounds and Joe Smith had two assists.

Price paced Wooster with 17 points and Nick Everett followed with 16. Cox-Holloway and Jamir Billings each had 10 and Everett led with nine rebounds. Price led the team with four assists.

The Tigers shot 43.6 percent from the field to Wooster's 41.5 percent with the Fighting Scots holding a 42-35 rebounding advantage.
