DePauw Claims 4-1 Win Over Wabash

Crawfordsville, Ind. - The DePauw Tigers stomped Wabash 4-1 on the road off of two, two goal performances from sSenior Tye Williams and sSophomore Jungwoo Ryu. The Tigers improved to 6-2-3 (1-0-1) and the Little Giants fell to 5-7 (1-1).

Wabash took an early lead off a goal from Danny Escobedo in the 18th minute. The Tigers quickly answered in the 21st minute when sSenior Tye Williams found the top right corner on a teardrop shot from outside the box assisted by sSophomore Roman Girandola. Williams would net his brace in the 49th minute on a counter attacking goal assisted by jJunior Braden Murphy. DePauw would find the goal again just a minute later when sSophomore Jungwoo Ryu scored a banger from outside the box to put DePauw up 3-1two. Ryu recorded his brace in the 60th minute after cleaning up a free kick with a chip shot from outside the box that flew over the keeper.

Both Williams and Ryu scored their first goals of the season, walking away with two apiece.

The Little Giants recorded 21 shots total, and 11 on net to DePauw's 16 total shots, and 7 on net. Wabash led in shots in the first half with 11 to Depauw's 3, but the Tigers owned the advantage in the second 13-10. Junior gGoalkeeper, Sam Ortner, anchored DePauw with 10 saves. Both teams received three yellow cards each. Williams and Ryu led the Tigers' offense with 3 shots each, all of which were on goal. Defenders Harrison Engel, Logan Hartsell, and Aidan Whitley all played 90 minutes to help Ortner anchor the Tigers.

Currently, the Tigers are second in NCAC standings, lowering Wabash to fourth after today's match. 

The Tiger's next match is Saturday, October 11th at John Carroll University at 1 p.m. before taking on Denison on at home Wednesday, October 15th at 4 p.m.
