Greencastle, Ind. - A Denison own goal in the second half lifted DePauw to a 1-0 win over league-leading Denison and handed the Big Red its first loss of the season.
After a scoreless first half, in the 64th minute of the game, Denison scored an own-goal when DePauw senior defender
Sophia Grueninger's free kick was headed into the goal by Denison's senior defender Sarah Sollinger.
The Tigers had four shots over the course of the game, with Denison having 11. Over the course of the hard-fought match, possession totaled 53% for the Big Red and 47% for the Tigers.
DePauw junior goalkeeper Aubrey Empie had five saves on the day, including a last-minute tip to deflect an on-goal shot by the Big Red near the end of the first half., Denison senior goalkeeper Molly Noga totaled one save.
The Tigers improved to 9-5-1 (3-2)Â and Denison moved to 6-4-4 (1-1-2). DePauw hosts Wooster on Saturday, Oct. 25th at 2:30 p.m.
