Greencastle, Ind. - Four DePauw student-athletes were recognized by D3football.com with selections to its all-America team.
Earning first team honors was tight end
Gabe Quigley (Sr., Carmel, Ind./Carmel), while wide receiverÂ
Robby Ballentine (Crown Point, Ind./Andrean) was chosen to the second team. Quarterback
Nathan McCahill (Sr., Indianapolis, Ind./Cathedral) and linebackerÂ
Jonathan Bruder (Sr., Centerville, Ohio/Centerville) were fourth team honorees.
Quigley is a consensus first team choice with similar all-America honors from the
Associated Press and theÂ
American Football Coaches Association. He totaled 47 catches for 787 yards and 13 touchdowns. He topped the 100-yard plateau on two occasions including aÂ
career-high 170 yards on eight catches at Kenyon in which he also tied a school record with four touchdown catches. In theÂ
Monon Bell Game win over Wabash, he hauled in three for 157 yards with all three going for touchdowns including his season-long catch of 75 yards on the first play of the second half.Â
Ballentine led DePauw with 78 receptions for 1,204 yards and a school and North Coast Athletic Conference-record 20 touchdown catches which ranks third in Division III this season. He caught a least two passes in all 12 games and had at least one touchdown catch in 11 contests. Ballentine topped the 100-yard plateau seven times with a high of 194 yards in the
NCAA second-round win over Maryville (Tenn.).
McCahill, the North Coast Athletic Conference Mike Gregory Award recipient as the conference's offensive player of the year, finished the season with a school and NCAC record 46 touchdown passes while completing 69.7 percent (225-323) of his passes for 3,459 yards. His 202.9 pass efficiency rating ranks second in Division III. He also broke a DePauw record and tied an NCAC mark with seven touchdown passes at Kenyon.Â
Bruder was voted the NCAC's Hank Critchfield Award recipient as the league's defensive player of the year and led the Tigers with 79 tackles including 1.5 sacks for six yards and 6.0 tackles for losses totaling 16 yards. He had two interceptions including one against Denison that he returned 70 yards for a touchdown.
DePauw was among six schools with at least four selections to the 2024 all-America team. The Tigers now have have 10 all-America selections since D3football.com started choosing them in 1999.
In addition to the program's second straight 10-0 regular season, the Tigers won a fourth straight NCAC title and made a fourth consecutive NCAA postseason appearance after going 8-0 in conference games. DePauw advanced to the Division III round of 16 for the second time in program history before losing to Johns Hopkins by a 14-9 score.
