Greencastle, Ind.- The DePauw men's soccer team suffered its first loss of the 2024 season after falling to Rose-Hulman 1-0 at home. The Tigers moved to 2-1-1, while the Fightin' Engineers improved to 1-1-2 for the season.
After a scoreless first half, in the 63rd minute of play, the Fightin' Engineers Tyler Eldridge capitalized on a short corner kick and pass by Julius Salinas to put Rose-Hulman up 1-0. With time expiring, DePauw continued to find a way in its final third. Still, the Rose-Hulman defense shut down any offensive progression the Tigers made in the final thirty minutes, resulting in the Fightin' Engineers' first win.
Though the Tigers came up short, they held a 12-5 edge in shots taken and recorded 14 corners while giving up just three on its defensive half.
Sam Ortner completed the night in goal with no saves, while Rose-Hulman's John Biederstedt recorded three.
The Tigers are back in Greencastle on Friday, September 13, to host the Hanover College Panthers at 5 p.m.
