West Lafayette, Ind. - DePauw loaded the bases in the first but couldn't score and host Purdue responded with three in the bottom of the first, 11 in the third and one in the sixth for a 15-0 win over the Tigers. DePauw dropped to 21-15, while the Boilermakers improved to 30-15.
After DePauw loaded the bases with one out in the first on a leadoff single by
Louis Florida and walks by
Cameron Macon and
Danny Glimco, Purdue got out of the jam by turning a double play.Â
Connor Caskenette put Purdue on the board with a three-run homer in the first after the first two batters walked. Jo Stevens extended the lead to 5-0 in the third with a two-run homer in the third. Purdue loaded the bases and plated four more runs after Couper Cornblum was hit by a pitch, Chase Brown drew a walk, Mike Bolton was hit by a pitch and Camden Gasser walked. Aaron Dolney then hit a sacrifice fly to make it 10-0. Thomas Green singled and Logan Sutter followed with a grand slam.
The Boilers' final run came in the sixth as Green's grounder scored Ty Gill.
Florida,
Aidan Howard and
Max Bond each had one hit for DePauw. Caskenette, Dolney and Sutter each had two of Purdue's 12 hits.
Charlie Hawk dropped to 2-3, while Cole Van Assen improved to 5-0.
The Tigers return home on Saturday, May 4, with a Noon North Coast Athletic Conference doubleheader against Hiram at Walker Field.
