DePauw Takes First-Place at the Indiana DIII Invitational
Greencastle, Ind.- The DePauw women's track and field team accumulated 248 points and finished first at the Indiana DIII Invitational. Trine University came in second with 192 points, followed by Hanover with 93.5.
The Tigers recorded 46 top-ten finishes, with just under half being top-three. Eight team members pulled in ten individual first-place finishes; among those eight first-place individual finishers was first-year
Shelby Stall, who finished the meet as the Indiana DIII Invitational Track MVP. Stall ran the 200m dash in 25.49 for first place. She would also finish the day with a second-place finish in the 100m dash (12.69) and anchored the second place 4x100m relay and the first place 4x400m relay.
Katie Moore earned two first-place finishes in the 100m hurdles; she ran it in 15.07, and in the 400m hurdles, she finished with a time of 1:03.75. Joining Moore as a first-place finisher was
Annalise Grammel, who ran the 800m run with a time of 2:16.39, and in the 400m dash,
Emily Loera ran a 1:02.63 for first place.
In the 1500m run,
Sophie Porter ran a 4:42.78 for first place, while
Meredith Sierpina took first in the 5000m run after running it in 18:47.70.
Kendall Mann led a trio of Tigers to sweep the top three times in the 3000m steeplechase. Mann ran it in 11.52.37, followed by
Morgan Tharp and
Chloe Krueger.
Emma Stemen earned the final individual first-place victory in pole vault after clearing a height of 3.21m.
The Tigers next meet is Friday, April 19, where they will compete in the Rose-Hulman Twilight Invitational, starting at 4:30 p.m.
