Elsah, Ill.-  The DePauw women's tennis team picks up its first win of the 2024 spring season after beating Principia College 5-4. The Tigers improve to 1-2 for the season, while the Panthers drop to 2-2.
 
DePauw took an early 2-1 lead following the doubles matches. On court one, Ellen Gardner and Kat Wilder defeated Principia's Bissola Lassissi and Veronica Volkart 8-2. The Tigers would secure their second win of the day after Alex Preston and Katie King beat Saray Cisneros and Kimbeley Peterson 8-4 on court three. The Panthers would find their way on the board after Mafe Quintero and Gaby Quintero defeated the Tigers' Kassie Green and Valerie Doherty 8-7 (7-3) on court two.
 
In singles play, Kat Wilder put DePauw up 3-1 after beating Principia's Kimbeley Peterson 6-2, 6-4 on court five. On court six, Bella DeNardo defeated Veronica Volkart 6-2 and retired. With a three-match lead, the Tigers battled for its last point, with the remaining four matches all going to three sets. On court one, Bissola Lassissi defeated Ellen Gardner 2-6, 6-2, 6-4. The Panthers' Saray Cisneros beat Valerie Doherty 6-4, 4-6, 6-1 on court two, and on court four, Katie King fell to Gaby Quintero 4-6, 6-2, 7-6 (7-2). Fortunately for the Tigers, Kassie Green put her match away, defeating the Panthers' Mafe Quintero 3-6, 6-4, 6-0 to give DePauw the 5-4 advantage.
