Shelbyville, Ind.: The DePauw women's cross country team totaled 91 points to claim the program's first NCAA Division III Great Lakes Regional Title. Just three points behind the Tigers was Calvin with 94 points, followed by Trine with 109.
The DePauw Tigers came out energized after winning the NCAC championship two weeks prior. Seniors
Sophie Porter,
Lily Monnett, and
Brynn Urban paced the Tigers top three times, with Porter finishing in fifth
with a time of 22:04.5, Monnett grabbed ninth place with a time of 22:11.1, and in 15th place, Urban ran the course in 22:33.3.
Grace Thomas and
Kendall Mann would join Porter, Monnett, and Urban as NCAA All-Region honorees after Thomas finished in 28th place (22:53.0), followed by Mann, who ran the course in 22:59.5 for 34th. Rounding out DePauw's seven was
Grace Flores, who finished the 6k course in 23:03.6 for 38th place and was closely followed by
Amzie Maienbrook, who finished in 41st place with a time of 23:09.06.
The Tigers earned an automatic bid to the NCAA Women's Cross Country Championships with today's first-place finish. This year's meet takes place Saturday, November 23, at the LaVern Gibson Championship Cross Country Course in Terre Haute, Ind., with the women's meet set for 11 a.m. EST.
