Wooster, Ohio - DePauw nearly battled back from a six-point deficit with just over two minutes remaining, but host Wooster fought off the Tigers for an 87-86 North Coast Athletic Conference win. The Tigers dropped to 11-9 overall and 6-5 in the NCAC, while Wooster improved to 12-8 overall and 8-3 in conference play.
After DePauw took a 47-41 lead into the halftime, Wooster opened the second half with an 8-2 run to even the count. The Fighting Scots eventually stretched the lead to seven on a couple of occasions with the last coming at 85-78 with 4:30 left. Wooster still led 87-81 after Ashton Price's basket with 2:09 remaining.

Sam Jacobs hit a jumper at the 1:42 mark and a Wooster miss was followed by
Ronald Johnson's drive that cut the Wooster lead to 87-85 with 59 seconds left.
Another Wooster miss with the shot clock running down was rebounded by
Reph Stevenson and the Tigers got the ball to Johnson who drew a foul with 18 seconds left. He hit the first of two free throws and Wooster rebounded the second. Price was fouled and missed the front end of a one-and-one.
Kyle Lillwitz snagged the rebound and the Tigers called a timeout with 15 seconds remaining.
Johnson brought the ball up the floor and drove the left side of the lane but his layup was blocked by Jaiden Cox-Holloway who also snagged the rebound to secure the win.
Jacobs scored a career-high 27 points, while Lillwitz added 17 and Johnson notched a career high with 16. Lillwitz and Johnson each knocked in all four 3-pointers they attempted, while Jacobs made both of his attempts from beyond the arc. Stevenson, Lillwitz and
Caleb Washington each grabbed four rebounds and Johnson dished out five assists.
Price led Wooster with 20 points with Cox-Holloway chipping in 17 and Isaac Roeder adding 10. Cox-Holloway and Jamir Billings finished with five boards apiece and Billings led with nine assists and five steals.
The Tigers shot a season-high 66.7 percent from the field which included a 13-of-17 performance from beyond the 3-point arc. The 76.5 percent 3-point shooting was the best single-game shooting by a DePauw team in a game in which it made at least 10. Wooster shot 58.9 percent from floor and knocked in 13-of-30 from long range.
DePauw held a 22-19 rebounding edge, but committed 17 turnovers to Wooster's nine.
DePauw travels to Wittenberg on Wednesday, Jan. 31, for a 7 p.m. NCAC game.
