Greencastle, Ind. - DePauw used a 14-2 run that bridged the first and second halves to pull away from visiting Kenyon on the way to a 76-58 North Coast Athletic Conference win. The Tigers improved to 11-7 overall and 6-3 in the NCAC with their fourth straight win, while the Owls dropped to 4-14 overall and 2-7 in league play.Â
The Tigers finished a tight first half with a 6-0 run over the final two minutes on buckets from
Grant Gohmann,
Brady Kunka and
Camden Brown to take a 36-25 lead into the intermission.
The Owls scored first in the second half before DePauw's
Sam Jacobs scored a bucket and hit four free throws and
Reph Stevenson added a layup to give the Tigers a 44-27 lead. DePauw led by as many as 26 midway through the half and held on for the win.
Caleb Washington paced DePauw with 16 points as 14 Tigers scored in the win. Jacobs and Gohmann each grabbed six rebounds and Gohmann dished out four assists.
Gefen Bar-Cohen paced Kenyon with 12 points with Murathan Kocaman chipping in 11 and Connor Moss 10. Charlie Heywood grabbed a game-high seven rebounds in the loss.
DePauw shot 49.2 percent from the floor to Kenyon's 44.4 percent and the Tigers held a 37-29 rebounding edge. The Tigers committed just three turnovers with Kenyon totaling 11.
The Tigers return to action on Wednesday, Jan. 24, when they host Wabash in an 8 p.m. contest.
