Greencastle, Ind. - DePauw opened play at the North Coast Athletic Conference/Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Crossover with wins over Trine (3-0/25-16, 25-18, 25-16) and Kalamazoo (3-1/25-16, 25-13, 22-25, 25-12) to extend its win streak to three and move to 3-3 on the season. In the victory over Trine, the Tigers outhit the Thunder .239-.026 while holding a 36-25 edge in kills.
Kaiden Harrington led the hosts with nine kills and hit .316, while Catherine Dobies paced Trine with seven kills.
Kendall Herrick had a team-high 15 assists for DePauw with Anna Zellers leading the Thunder with 11.
Grace Myers had four of DePauw's six aces while Zellers had two of Trine's three. Myers paced the DePauw defensive effort with 12 digs, while
Ashley Haas finished with two block solos and five block assists. Jordan Budzinski and Dobies each had nine digs for the Thunder and Kylie Rowland totaled two block assists. The Tigers held a 52-40 advantage in digs and an 11-4 lead in total team blocks.
Against Kalamazoo, the Tigers outhit the Hornets, .197-(-.008) and led in kills, 44-24. Harrington paced DePauw with 10 kills and Taylor Stephens led Kalamazoo with seven. Herrick had 18 of the Tigers' 38 kills with Sara Reatherford totaling 11 of the Hornets' 23 assists.
Katie Gansle had three of DePauw's 10 aces with Rorie Dougherty and Halley Johnson each finishing with two of Kalamazoo's seven. Myers again paced the Tigers with 20 digs and Haas had one block solo and three assists. Lizzy Rachiele led Kalamazoo with 13 digs and Emma Stickley finished with one block solo and three assists.
DePauw wraps up weekend play with a 12:15 p.m. match against Adrian.
