Greencastle, Ind. - DePauw took a 2-1 lead into singles play against second-seed Kenyon, but the third-seed Tigers fell to the Owls by a 5-3 score in the North Coast Athletic Conference semifinals. The Tigers ended their season at 10-8, while the Owls improved to 14-9 and face top-seed Denison in tomorrow's Noon championship match.
Thomas Kallarakal and Eric Zhang topped
Cole Metzger and
Hudson Mosher by an 8-5 score at second doubles before DePauw's number-one tandem of
Ryan McCook and
Thomas Partridge defeated Eliezer Gonzalez and Paulo Pocasangre 8-7 (8-6) and the Tigers' third team of
Finley Buelte and
Jake Watson also won in a tiebreaker over Rishil Kondapaneni/Luis Andres Platas 8-7 (7-5).
Pocasangre was a 6-1, 6-3 winner over Metzger at fifth singles to even the score at 2-2 before Platas topped McCook by a 6-3, 6-2 score at third singles. Kondapaneni was a 6-4, 6-3 victor over Partridge at first singles with Buelte winning over Kallarakal 6-4, 6-2 at the second spot. Zhang clinched the team win for the Owls at sixth singles with a 7-6 (8-6), 6-1 win over Rayson Zylstra.
