Greencastle, Ind. - In the final game of the 2023 season, DePauw dropped a 20-6 North Coast Athletic Conference game to visiting Ohio Wesleyan. The Tigers finished the season at 7-9 overall and 2-6 in the NCAC, while the Battling Bishops improved to 12-4 overall and 7-1 in conference play.
Ohio Wesleyan grabbed a 1-0 lead in the opening 1:08 on Spencer Amacher's goal before DePauw's
Eli Federman evened the count and
Jack Kneisley gave the Tigers a 2-1 lead with a score with 9:56 left in the first.
Will Siegenthaler responded with a score that started a 15-0 run that extended into the third period and put the game away.
Federman and
Connor Gibson each scored two goals for DePauw, while Amacher paced Ohio Wesleyan with five goals and Siegenthaler added four.
Sebastian Schaefer recorded 11 saves in goal for DePauw, while
Anthony Reinhardt added seven. Paddy Colligan and George Whitney each had two saves for the Battling Bishops with Nathan George adding one.
Ohio Wesleyan held a 57-19 edge in shots and committed 18 turnovers to DePauw's 30. The Battling Bishops also held a 33-21 lead in ground balls.
Kneisley won 13-of-24 faceoffs and scooped up eight ground balls, while
Matthew Garrigan caused five turnovers.
Ohio Wesleyan's Noah Citek led his squad with eight ground balls and won 11-of-20 faceoffs.
