Terre Haute, Ind.- The DePauw women's track and field team finished second place at the Rose-Hulman Twilight Meet after totaling 142.5 points. Greenville took first with 205 points, and in third was St. Mary-of-the-Woods with 131.
DePauw finished the night with 16 top-five finishes, two event sweeps, and five first-place finishes. The Tigers swept the top four spots in the 1500-meter run, with
Morgan Tharp leading. Tharp finished with a time of 4:50.13, followed by second-place finisher
Emma Jacobs with a time of 4:56.33. Finishing in third place was
Rachel DeLancey, who finished the run in 4:57.04, and in fourth place was
Ava Knight, with a time of 4:57.82.
DePauw's second event sweep of the night came in the 3000-meter run. Coming in first was
Meredith Sierpina, who finished with a time of 10:19.36. Teammate
Sophie Porter finished second with a time of 10:20.21, followed by
Amzie Maienbrook in third (10:58.89).
The Tigers continued to dominate in the distance and mid-distance races with two more first-place finishes. In the 5000-meter run, the DePauw snagged first and third place.
Ashley Baldwin finished with a time of 19:33.96 for first, while
Reagan Hoggatt took third (19:58.30), and in the 800-meter run,
Annalise Grammel earned first place after running it in 2:20.61.
The final first-place finish for the Tigers was in the 4x400-meter relay, where
Emily Loera,
Ava Knight,
Alexis Cagan, and Grammel ran it in 4:09.56 for first. In sprints and hurdles, DePauw tacked on three more top-five finishes. In the 400-meter hurdles,
Seelye Stoffregen earned third with a time of 1:10.30.
Jaida Smith,
Lily Boston, Cagan, and Loera finished fourth in the 4x100-meter relay with a time of 50.89. Cagan would also earn a fifth-place finish in the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:03.72.
In field events,
Abby Hartman tied for fifth in high jump with a height of 1.45m, and
Tessa Kochert jumped a distance of 9.84m for fifth in the triple jump.
DePauw returns to Terre Haute, Ind., on Saturday, April 29, to compete in the Sycamore Open.
