DePauw Finish Second at the 2023 Indiana DIII Championships

Greencastle, Ind.- The DePauw women's track and field team finished second at the 2023 Indiana DIII Championships after recording 144 points. Trine finished first with 174 points, and in third place was Hanover with 133.
 
DePauw recorded 15 top-three finishes across the afternoon. Pacing the Tigers to its second-place finish was Emily Loera, who took home first place in long jump, with a distance of 5.17m, and was a part of the second-place 4x100 meter relay team and first-place 4x400 relay team. 
 
In the 4x100 meter relay, Jaida Smith, Lily Boston, Alexis Cagan, and Loera finished with a time of 51.13 for second place. Cagen, Ava Knight, Loera, and Emma Jacobs took first place in the 4x400 meter relay with a time of 4:14.27.
 
Cagan and Jacobs both recorded top-three finishes in individual events. Cagan finished third in the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:03.24, and Jacobs took second in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:22.56. Seelye Stoffregen took third place in the 100 (16.11) and 400-meter hurdles (1:08.43).
 
The Tigers swept the 10,000-meter run, with Sophie Porter finishing in first place; her time of 38:35.35 broke the previous meet record by 12 seconds. Amzie Maienbrook came in second with a time of 40:18.21, followed by third-place finisher Brynn Urban (40:26.77). Jess Gaumer rounded out the top-three finishers in distance events for DePauw, earning third after running the 3000-meter steeplechase in 13:34.29.

In the field events, Abby Hartman tied for second with a height of 1.49m in high jump, while Emma Stemen tied for third in pole vault with a height of 3.15m. Over in triple jump, Tessa Kochert finished in second with a distance of 10.65m, followed by teammate Smith who finished third with a jump of 9.93m.
 
DePauw's next meet is Friday, April 21, in Terre Haute, Ind., where they will compete in the Rose-Hulman Twilight Meet. The meet is set to start at 5 p.m.
