Tigers Drop NCAC Matchup Against Yeowomen

Box Score Oberlin, Ohio- In its second North Coast Athletic Conference matchup, the DePauw women's tennis team lost to the Oberlin College Yeowomen 6-3. The Tigers drop to 1-9 and 0-2 in NCAC place, while the Yeowomen improve to 5-3 and 1-1 in conference play. 
 
In doubles play, the Tigers' Alex Preston, and Valerie Doherty tallied one win by default on court three, while on court two, Ellen Gardner and Kat Wilder fell to Dina Nouaimi and Lydia Zafeiri 8-3. The Yeowomen would notch its second win after Marta Laska and Anna Pastore of Oberlin outlasted Kiley Shaw and Sonal Matta, beating them 8-6 on court one.
 
In singles play, Shaw and Franny Werner won their matches by default to put the Tigers up 3-2. Despite being down, Oberlin played with confidence in its singles matches. On court one, the Yeowomen's Laska defeated Gardner 6-1, 6-2; on court three, Oberlin's Nouaime beat Wilder 6-0, 6-3. The Yeowomen clinched its win over the Tigers after Pastore defeated Matta 6-3, 6-4 for a 5-3 lead. In the day's final match, Doherty fell to Zafeiri 2-6, 6-3, 6-1.
 
DePauw returns to Greencastle, Ind., on Monday, March 13, where the Tigers will host the Fightin' Engineers of Rose-Hulman. Matches are set to start at 6:30 p.m.
