Wooster, Ohio - DePauw scored the game's first 10 points and never trailed on the way to an 84-45 North Coast Athletic Conference win at Wooster. The victory was the Tigers' 11th straight and gave them a share of the NCAC title with Wittenberg as both teams finished 13-1 in conference play. DePauw moved to 18-7 overall, while Wooster dropped to 0-14 in the NCAC and 1-24 overall.
The title was DePauw's 10th out of a possible 11 since beginning NCAC play in 2011-12. DePauw will open tournament play on Tuesday, Feb. 21, with a quarterfinal game against Hiram at a time to be determined. DePauw won the coin toss with Wittenberg and enters as the second seed with the possibility of hosting the semifinal and championship rounds on Feb. 24-25, should it win the quarterfinal game.
The Tigers jumped out to a 10-0 lead in the opening three minutes of the game and took a 25-10 advantage into the second period. Wooster was within 16 a couple of times in the second, but DePauw scored seven straight and kept the lead above 20 the rest of the game.
Moira McGinley led DePauw with 15 points, while
Riley Mont followed with 14 and
Mya Shannon 11. Mont grabbed eight rebounds and
Maura Fitzgerald dished out six assists.
Ella Biondi paced Wooster with 22 points and 13 rebounds with Shalen Guilliams scoring 11.Â
DePauw shot 42.6 percent from the floor and hit 13-of-25 3-pointers while knocking in 13-of-14 from the foul line. Wooster shot 36.2 percent from the field and made 4-of-11 from beyond the arc. The Tigers held a commanding 47-24 rebounding edge.
