Tigers Earn Ninth Straight Win in Overtime Battle at Oberlin

Oberlin, Ohio - DePauw led by 13 early in the fourth, but host Oberlin forced overtime only to have the Tigers win by an 88-78 count. DePauw improved to 16-7 overall and 11-1 in the North Coast Athletic Conference with its ninth straight win, while the Yeowomen dropped to 14-9 overall and 7-5 in conference play.

DePauw scored the final five points of the first half and the first four of the second to push its lead to double digits at 42-32. The Tigers grabbed a 58-45 lead as the teams headed to the fourth. 

The Tigers still held a nine-point advantage at 68-59 after Mya Shannon's 3-pointer with 2:07 left. Bryana Woodard hit two free throws before Angela Kumler's layup following a DePauw turnover made it 68-63 with 1:36 remaining.

Ava Hassel knocked in two free throws with 44 seconds left to push the lead to seven before Camille Zinaich's layup cut the DePauw lead to 70-65 with 36 seconds left.

Hassel then made one of two free throws before Zinaich made two charity tosses to make it 71-67. Maura Fitzgerald made the second of two free throws to give DePauw a 72-67 advantage. Gina Lombard countered with a trey with 15 seconds remaining, but Fitzgerald hit two free throws to make it 74-70 at the 13-second mark.

Alyson Jefferson's layup with six seconds left trimmed the DePauw lead to two and the Tigers missed a pair of free throws. Following an Oberlin rebound, Jefferson cut through the DePauw defense and scored on a layup just prior to the horn sounding.

The Tigers gained control in the overtime with a 10-0 run as they hit 9-of-10 from the line.

Mya Shannon paced DePauw with a career-high 32 points and blocked three shots, while Hassel also added a career-best 24 points. Riley Mont followed with 13 and Lily Huntzinger scored 10. Shannon and Lydia Stullken each grabbed eight rebounds and Hassel dished out four assists.

Jefferson paced Oberlin with 22 followed by Zanaich with 21 and Lombard with 20. Zinaich grabbed 10 rebounds and Lombard dished out five assists.

DePauw shot 45.6 percent from the field to Oberlin's 36.8 percent and the Tigers hit 27-of 37 from the line.

The Tigers host Ohio Wesleyan on Wednesday at 8 p.m.
