Gambier, Ohio - DePauw held host Kenyon to single-digit point totals in each of the four periods and pushed its win streak to four with a 59-32 win over the Owls in the North Coast Athletic Conference opener for both schools. The Tigers improved to 5-3, while Kenyon dropped to 2-6 overall.
After DePauw scored the final four points of the opening period to take a 15-9 lead, Kenyon opened the second with a 3-pointer. However, DePauw scored the next 17 to take a 32-12 lead with just over three minutes left in the half on the way to a 34-16 advantage at the break.
In the third, Kenyon opened with an 11-4 run capped by Alyssa Gest's three with 6:27 left to trim the DePauw lead to 36-23. The Tigers responded with a 12-0 run to extend the lead to 48-23 after three periods. DePauw's lead reached as many as 28 in the final quarter.
Riley Mont paced DePauw with 16 points and seven rebounds, while
Ava Hassel dished out three assists and recorded four steals.
Claudia Cooke led Kenyon with 18 points with Anissa Hardy grabbing seven rebounds and Alexis Newman handing out three assists.
DePauw shot 33.9 percent from the floor including 35 percent from 3-point range, while the Owls connected on 28.6 percent from the floor. DePauw held a 42-32 rebounding edge and committed 11 turnovers to Kenyon's 21.
DePauw returns to action on Dec. 19, when it faces Southern Virginia in the Music City Classic at Welch College in Gallatin, Tenn. Tipoff is scheduled for 3 p.m. CST.
