Greencastle, Ind. - Five different DePauw players scored offensive touchdowns and another pair added defensive points as the Tigers topped Kenyon, 58-7, in a North Coast Athletic Conference contest. The Tigers moved to 9-0 for just the second time in program history and improved to 7-0 in the NCAC, while the Owls dropped to 1-7 overall ad 1-5 in conference play.
Joseph Sullivan gave the Tigers a 6-0 lead with first-quarter field goals of 24 and 35 yards, respectively, before
Gus Baumgartner scored on a 15-yard run with 52 seconds left in the opening quarter.
The Tigers tacked on 24 points in the second quarter as
Daniel Roach caught a 4-yard pass from
Nathan McCahill before
Brevon Gude scooped up an Owls fumble and took it 77 yards for a score to make it 27-0 with 6:11 left in the first half.
Gabe Quigley's 4-yard run with 2:01 left pushed the lead to 34-0 before Sullivan booted a 33-yard field goal as time expired in the half to make it 37-0.Â
The Tigers quickly pushed the lead to 51-0 as McCahill teamed with
Jaylon Smith for a 19-yard score on DePauw's first possession before
Ryland Irvin picked of Kenyon's Andrew Catron at the DePauw 25 and took it all the way for a score.
DePauw's final points came on a 9-play, 70-yard drive capped by McCahill's 12-yard pass to
Robby Ballentine.
The Owls' lone points of the game came on Jordon Benjamin's 3-yard run with 6:46 left.
DePauw outgained Kenyon, 421-218, including 120-60 on the ground. Baumgartner totaled 88 rushing yards on nine carries, while Benjamin paced Kenyon with 57 yards on 12 attempts.
McCahill completed 22-of-29 passes for 279 yards with three touchdowns, while
Jack Kazmierczak was 5-of-6 for 22 yards. Ballentine caught seven passes for 142 yards, while Quigley had 45 yards on five catches.
Henry Wendorf was 10-of-23 for Kenyon for 97 yards. David Livingston caught five passes for 80 yards.
Luke Marsh led DePauw with five tackles, while Gude and
Luke Nolan each had one sack. Irvin,
Matthew Coons and Cortez Stoudamire each had one interception. Dominic Simpson paced the Owls with nine tackles.
DePauw returns to action on Saturday, Nov. 11, when it travels to Crawfordsville for the 129th meeting with Wabash and the 91st for possession of the Monon Bell. Kickoff is slated for 1:07 p.m.
